Deluxe guestrooms at The Capital now open
Following significant refurbishment, the Deluxe guestrooms at The Capital are now complete, revealing beautiful art-led interiors by JSJ Design.
The new-look rooms boast an elevated sense of luxury for discerning guests at this five-star Knightsbridge hotel, which is owned and operated by the Warwick Hotels and Resorts Group.

Designed by London-based interior design firm, JSJ Design, the interiors were inspired by the vibrant history of Knightsbridge and the Pre-Raphaelite art movement.
There are two distinct schemes across the new Deluxe guestrooms. Both take their names and colourways directly from oil paintings by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, widely regarded as the founder of the Pre-Raphaelites.
JSJ Design Director, Simeon Thompson said:
“The design concept evolved from a research piece into the history of Knightsbridge, the local area and what made this affluent part of London what it is today. Directly inspired by the Pre-Raphaelites who lived and worked in the area around the time of The Great Exhibition, the rooms feature rich colours, nods to nature and narrative-led artworks that connect past and present.”
Both schemes facilitate the bed as a natural focus, as guests enter their rooms. The upholstered headboard is inspired by the form of the windows of nearby Harrods, while the overlaid antique mirror feature above echoes the reflective floral sections in the wall panelling artist William Morris designed for the V&A café.

The majority of the FF&E featured in the schemes have been designed and made bespoke, including the carpets, seating, artwork, decorative lighting, and casegoods.
Fabrics are from a selection of quality British and European brands including GP&J Baker, Pierre Frey, Rubelli, Élitis, Kirkby and Sanderson, while lighting fixtures are from Heathfield and Sibling.
Framed artworks feature a mix of colourful abstract elements inspired by British fashion designer Alexander McQueen, alongside imagery of The Great Exhibition, Harrods and the V&A, referencing the history of the area.
In addition to the guestrooms, the corridors leading to the Deluxe rooms and the impressive wrap-around Squires staircase have also been refurbished. The public areas have a connected design concept to the Deluxe rooms and have been directly inspired by a landscape painting by Pre-Raphaelite artist John Everett Millais. A bespoke wall mural evokes the feeling of stepping into a woodland, transporting guests to another world as they climb the stairs.
The latest refurbishments are part of a wider investment into upgrading all guestrooms within the hotel over the next 18 months. Renovation of the Classic Rooms and Apartments was completed earlier this year. The exterior façade is also being given a refresh to allow greater visibility on Basil Street.
