JSJ Design were engaged to develop the brand and interior concept for MOMO, a fresh, modern pan-Asian fast food venture combining the best of Japanese and Korean cuisine. With no existing venue or identity, the client tasked us with developing not just a standout restaurant design, but also a distinctive brand that would disrupt the grab-and-go market and appeal to a younger, health-conscious audience.
Our scope covered everything from interior design and space planning to branding, graphic design, and digital touchpoints.
CONCEPT DIRECTION
JSJ Design developed a vibrant and playful concept that reflects MOMO’s mission: to offer fresh, made-on-site Japanese and Korean dishes at accessible prices, with a focus on health and quality.
- The interiors combine natural materials, dynamic geometric forms, and clean architectural lines with a graphic-led identity that draws inspiration from Korean Obangsaek colours, the Japanese five-colour tradition, and modern Asian typography.
- Statement lighting, warm timbers, and layered textures create an atmosphere that feels energetic yet welcoming.
- A key aim was to provide an engaging, Instagrammable environment — with bold wall graphics, illuminated signage, and striking visual features that encourage customers to share their experience.
BRAND DEVELOPMENT
Working closely with our graphic design consultant, JSJ Design shaped the entire MOMO brand identity:
- Logo design that fuses Korean and Japanese typography into a distinctive band mark
- Development of brand colours, centred on MOMO orange, offset with black, white, and accent blues
- Creation of wall art, digital interfaces, signage, packaging concepts, and even the way branding appears on takeaway boxes and menus
- A brand tone that is bold, conversational, and expressive, reflecting MOMO’s innovative approach to fast casual dining
