Edwardian semi detached family home in Hove

This is the current family home of JSJ Designer, Jasmin Robertson. Jasmin’s style is an eclectic mix of old and new, with a love of art, nature and colour.

The Edwardian property was built in 1906 and is located in the Artists Quarter neighbourhood of Hove, Sussex.

THE SCOPE OF WORKS

When Jasmin and Liam bought the house, it was only possible to fit a double bed in two of the five bedrooms and there was only one small bathroom. The ground floor was made up of a series of disjointed rooms, restricted of natural light due to the addition of a small kitchen extension and conservatory in the 90s.

The renovation included removal of the existing extension and conservatory to make way for a large kitchen extension, plus loft conversion, internal remodel and full refurbishment throughout. While two bedrooms on the first floor were sacrificed to create a larger family bathroom and en suite and walk in wardrobe for the master bedroom, two new rooms and a further shower room were gained in the loft.

Retaining and reinstating period features and incorporating as many sustainable finishes were of key importance and the addition of two large roof lights help bring more natural light into the property.

The ambitious renovation was completed in 10 months and featured on George Clarke’s Old House New Home which first aired on Channel 4 in July 2023.
